the nearest post offices are in gorebridge - mccolls and scotmid. 29 april 2013 a spin class is starting in temple village hall on wednesday 1st may and will run weekly. 6.30pm will be a free kids session and 7pm will be the adults session for £5. 26 january 2013 we were contacted by lothian amphibian and reptile group (larg) who would like to organise some toad crossings in the area. toads wake from hibernation in march and many are killed on the roads. look out for information about this soon if you want to be involved - planned date is 8th march : 6pm. 20 january 2013 moorfoot community council update: there is an ongoing problem with a number of thefts of diesel from farms and other properties. copper is still being stolen from temple quarry's conveyor belt and fly tipping is happening throughout the area. please contact our community policeman, keith mcquaid - 0131 6630 2855 with any information. keith would also like to meet our community and promote farm watch. the community council's agm is 6th february and they ar elooking for people to represent temple and the rural areas running up to the moorfoots. please contact dave picken or ken adam before the agm. 29 november 2012 temple christmas ceildh dvds - moorflix have produced dvd of the 1990 temple christmas ceilidh feature performances from local people. please contact us if you would like to purchase one - £5 each. 29 november 2012 temple bees - this is a very intersting article about the temple bees . 05 february 2012 volunteers of midlothian paths group will be making improvements to the river south esk path between temple and braidwood bridge on 4 days until 6th march between 10am and 4pm. come along and join in, cutting back vegetation, creating steps and building boardworks - no previous experience required and tools are provided. read more here... 13 november 2011 the twinning association has now been renamed moorfoot twinning association with plans to involve the wider community. an update is now issued along with a report on the june 2011 visit to ivry-le-temple and news paper reports. moorfoot community council hosts a new website for the twinning association . 14 august 2011 in june 2011, temple community cinema changed their name to moorflix and will continue to show films to the villages in the moorfoot community area. the film programme has been announced so please check the website . 09 may 2011 temple spring walk - we were particularly pleased with all the catering donations-yummy stuff! the help on the day was marvellous, particularly in the bar and in the kitchen sink and the clean up "staff" were to be highly recommended. there was also the usual behind the scene helpers in walk preparation to be thanked. all this effort raised a profit of £312.50 and in addition there will be bar profits.( not calculated as yet but bar takings were £164.80)- sue, eileen and mike. 09 february 2010 temple book club meet on the first tuesday of every month to discuss a book that everyone has read. it's a nice friendly meeting in a neighbour's house, with a blether, with some wine, and a chat about the book - the books to be read from march until may have been announced. if you would like to know more, please check the book club page . 28 december 2010 after the temple 2011 calendar flew off the shelves and sold out, the friends of temple halls are looking to next year and are encouraging the community to take photos throughout the year for the next one. more details will appear later in 2011. you can read about the 2011 calendar here... 11 november 2010 bt are surveying communities interested in faster internet, please register here to help ... 03 november 2010 temple village hall refurbishment update - work begins! 23 july 2010 temple nursery and playgroup now have their own website . 09 june 2010 you may just have heard that a short fictional film has been made in the local area involving many people from the community. the film was shown on the 6th and 7th of march, 2010 in the village hall with the stars arriving by "limo" and everyone dressing up posh. the project raised £1161.53 shared between the tvha, temple nursery and setting up a new temple film society. full details of the film can be found here - www.theundiscoveredmovie.com . 09 march 2010 moorfoot community council have their own website now. 28 october 2009 a number of reports are appearing in the newspapers about a carved stone found in a garden in the village - it seems to be creating quite a stir!!
